All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I have ever had. Not only are they are moist and simmer for days, they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana can be one of these flavors that can get lost when you inhale with it. It can be very subtle flavor. It always bums me out if that occurs, cause I really like the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

So when great brewed banana treats come together, we move a little crazy for them.

These cookies make the listing of banana items to go crazy for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moist, they melt in your mouth. Plus, with both oats and banana in them, they are basically healthy, correct? And perfect for breakfast!

Making them is equally as simple as eating them.

You begin by mixing all those beautiful components together.

I have to warn you. The odor of that mixture -- using all the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen which makes the dough together with me (we made a bargain that contained him carbonated with me) and we both had to work hard to not put our faces, or a straw, straight in to it.

You then add all the ingredients (which usually means you simply use one bowl -- yay!) And combine it all together!

To bake them, spoon out about a tablespoon of bread and produce a thick disk, rather than a ball. They spread a bit after baking, and thus don't put them too close together. Bake them for approximately 10-12 minutes for a fine, moist cookiecutter. So yummy!

1 additional thing I really like about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandmother (my father's mom) passed away in 2008. Once I started draining a lot a couple of years ago, my uncle gave me her cookbook that he'd had and didn't use. I've had it in my list to make numerous her desserts since.

My dad and I left her gaufrettes (a French cookie -- my great grandparents were French) a year or so ago. It was click to read more a convention for my grandmother to make them each Christmas! She gave everyone a large tin of them, which has been quite a feat with 6 sons.

I know exactly how much of a feat it was! My goodness. She made them using a conventional gaufrette iron that goes over an open flame. My father and I had them in the stove. They cook very quickly and you have to be precise. Too little time and they sort of disintegrated into the iron. Overly long and they burned into the iron and we needed to clean it out.

My father was pouring the batter and taking away the biscuits, I was working the ironthe hubs was timing things. It took many tries to get it right, but they had been so great! I have tried to create them again on my own and it works. I'd really like to share the recipe, however, the dang irons are all so tough to find. And pricey. At some point, I would love to just earn a cookie with the identical gaufrette flavor.

For now though, I am sharing these cookies. I don't believe I had them when she made them, but they're from her book.

It's such a fun recipe book to look through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, including clippings and newspaper recipes that were taped into the publication. I love the way they used to write recipes in the newspaper -- they'd the individual who filed it's title and cute little stories. It's so enjoyable to browse through them! What another time in the world!

Anyways, I do not really know where this recipe originated from. The paper looks like it was on a flier out of their square dance class or something (they were big into square dance ). It is definitely from West Virginia, in which they lived.



Either way, I'm so glad to finally share a recipe from her book with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and more puffier and they are delicious. There will be more to come from her recipe book, but for the time being like the banana.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies



Yield: 34-36 COOKIES


INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup salted butter, softened (I use scatter Butter)

1 cup brown sugarpacked

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup mashed bananas

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch



DIRECTIONS:

2. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves and cornstarch and mix until blended.

3. Stir in milk.

5. Flatten dough a little bit, into thick discs. They will disperse a little when boiled.

7. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes, then proceed to cooling rack to finish cooling.
